Stones of Stenness and the Ring of Brodgar
These two Neolithic stone circles lie within site of each other and, like Stonehenge, would originally have been used for religious activities. Each consist of a central enclosure, surrounded by standing stones and an external ditch, sometimes even cut into the bedrock.
