In 1850 a large storm blew away sand dunes, revealing a Neolithic village which proved to have the best preserved prehistoric houses in Europe, consisting of ten houses and interconnecting passages. The roofs are gone but the walls and furniture (including beds, shelves, seats and dressers) remain, partly because they were all made from stone; its the original Flintstones village!
In addition to the furniture, these stone age houses had indoor toilets and underground sewage systems. At this site you can visit the museum housing the finds from the site, explore a full size replica and view the original houses from a purpose built walkway that allows you to see down into each one.
