About Ancient Alba
Ancient Alba is run by Kate Anderson. While completing a Masters degree and then a PhD in Scottish archaeology at Edinburgh University, I tutored and lectured undergraduates and adult evening courses on the subject, while also taking the opportunity to explore the fantastic archaeological sites of Scotland in my spare time.
In 2010 I realised that many of my students were keen to do the same – particularly those from overseas, looking to make the most of their time here and see a bit more of the country than simply Edinburgh itself – but found that the costs and logistics of doing it individually were too difficult.
Ancient Alba was set up to provide that opportunity. Combining my love of Orkney and my experience of teaching, I aim to offer a fun, accessible tour through the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site.
